Today, the students received a list of words that they need to know for the spelling bee. The words on this list are the spelling words that have been completed so far this year. The challenge words that are on the list will only be used if needed.
The top 6 spellers + 1 alternate will move on to the school spelling bee on April, 20th at 1:30. Once both 4th & 5th grades have completed their classroom spelling bees, a separate list will be given to those students moving on to the school-wide spelling bee. Good luck to all! Tomorrow is popcorn day!
Tomorrow is also a dress down day for Mardi Gras. Students may wear purple, green, or gold (and jeans). Also, there will be a parade through the school tomorrow at 2:40 (right after DARE)! Band

Reading: Storyworks "Ruby Bridges" WS HW (Due Friday) Math: pages 561-562 HW Social Studies: Compare Graphs WS HW Each student has been assigned a book to read and will need to complete a creative book report project. The project is a Book Report Sandwich.
Book Report Sandwich 1. On the top slice of “bread,” write the title and the author of the book. 2. On the “lettuce,” write a brief summary of the book. 3. On the “tomato,” write about the main character. 4. On the “mayonnaise,” describe the book's setting. 5. On the “cheese,” write about the book's climax. 6. On the “ham slice,” describe the plot. 7. On the bottom slice of “bread,” draw a favorite scene from the story. 8. On the “plate,” write your name and the date. Book reports must be typed. Students may decorate/color each page to look like the corresponding piece of the sandwich. Each part of the sandwich should be a minimum of one paragraph (except for the bread and the plate). These can be as creative as the student wants to get!! I suggest that each student reads at least one chapter a day in order to finish the book and still have time to work on the project. Some of the project can be started before completing the book, so students may want to get a head start, or they might want to work on completing an outline as they read. If you have any questions, email me or we can schedule a meeting after school! The Book Report Sandwich is due on March 20th, 2017.
